Lenovo ThinkPad T420 / 16 GB Ram (yes it will take it) -- i5 Core
Windows 10 Pro
Version 1909
Build 18363.1440
Looking for some hands-on personal experience with this model if possible.
Version 1909 went in fine back in June of 2020. For some time now the Update pane has been saying that Version 2004 would be coming soon. As of today (this post) this has yet to happen. No update has downloaded and none has been offered in the Windows Updates pane.
Today there was a KB update for Ver 1909 and after that came in there was a small message in the Task Bar saying to click to DL a new version. I know that 1909 is going to reach EOL in May. I'm content to wait for MS to eventually give me version 2004 but the clock is ticking.
Well... after the restart for the KB update, the offer to click and DL the new version went away and has not re-appeared even after a restart or two, and not even after running another Windows Update check.
The question is whether there are any Lenovo T420 users out there that weathered the update from 1909 or earlier, to 2004 or even 20H2? Any other confidence level? This unit started life as Win 7.
All of my other systems in the family have bumped up now to 20H2 including a rather dated Presario CQ62 that I did not think would update, and a Dell that started life at Win 8.1.
I'm patient to wait for it to happen on its own but if anyone else has weathered this on this model I;d be interested in hearing your experience. -- Thanks
