Lenovo Legion 5 (15)
GET IT FOR: Rs 75,990
HIGHLIGHT: Cooling mechanism
The Legion series gaming laptops from Lenovo have always been high on performance, features and are usually more affordable than the competition. The Lenovo Legion 5 follows a similar ideology.
At a starting price of Rs 75,990, the Legion 5 (15) is powered by AMD Ryzen 5 4600H processor paired with 8GB RAM and Nvidia GTX 1650Ti graphics card. The laptop also features a 256GB SSD and 1TB HDD.
The AMD Ryzen 5 isn’t the top-notch processor, however, it goes well with the price-to-performance ratio. The Ryzen 5 on this machine delivered optimal performance while both doing regular day-today tasks as well as gaming. Even CPU intensive games ran at a pretty decent frame rate.
Despite the GTX 1650Ti graphics, the laptop managed to run games like The Division 2, CyberPunk 2077, Shadow of Tomb Raider and others at a decent frame rate. However, we had to tone down the graphics settings to Medium to get that frame rate.
A gaming laptop needs to offer more than just high-end internals. Other factors such as a good display, better cooling and additional software features are also important and Legion 5 (15) offers all of them. The Legion 5 (15) features a 15.6-inch full HD display with 120Hz refresh rate. The display quality is good and the high refresh rate works in favour of the laptop too.
As far as cooling is concerned the laptop comes with Coldfront 2.0 dual-channel thermal mechanism. It also offers three fan settings — Quiet, Balance and Performance modes. In our test, the cooling system on this laptop is efficient. Even while gaming, the laptop feels cool.
The laptop also comes with a pretty decent selection of ports and the best part is most of them are placed at the rear of the laptop which helps to keep the surroundings clutterfree. Legion 5 (15) comes with a chiclet-style backlit keyboard. The keys feel solid and offer good feedback when pressed.
For a gaming laptop, the speakers sound clear and crisp. However, they could have been a bit louder. At this price point, Legion 5 is a good option for those who just don’t want a hardcore gaming laptop but an efficient one.
