In early May, we learned through a leaked roadmap that Lenovo has three new ThinkPads planned for a release in the second half of 2020. Their names: Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium and ThinkPad X12. None have been announced so far, though the signs were that at least the X1 Nano would be out by November. In July, a leak uncovered further details about the ThinkPad X1 Nano, which will feature Tiger Lake and 16:10, but nothing about the other two devices was revealed.
Today, we got some more details on all three, thanks to Verizon. The US based network company has put up pages for all three ThinkPads on its developer site. It appears they are on there, because all three will feature LTE modems.
Unfortunately, the pictures posted by Verizon are quite blurry and low-quality. Also, the full-specs are not there either. But there are still a few interesting tidbits - to be taken with a grain of salt though, because we can not verify how accurate these specs are:
- Lenovo ThinkPad X12 will be a Surface-style detachable. It seems to be a spiritual successor to the ThinkPad X1 Tablet from 2018, but with a smaller screen. Speaking of the screen: Verizon mentions a screen resolution of 1,366 x 768 which, if true, would be a major disappointment. The battery appears to have a capacity of just 30 Wh. On the other hand, the weight of just 1.28 lbs or 0.580 kg would be very low. The footprint of the X12 is 28.3 x 20.6 x 0.86 cm according to Verizon.
- Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Titanium appears to feature a grey, metal body, similar to the current ThinkPad X1 Yoga. Verizon mentions a screen size of 13.5 inch as well as a screen resolution of 2,560 x 1,504. With a battery capacity of 42 Wh, the X1 Titanium would be rather limited in this regard. On the other hand measuring 29.8 x 23.3 x 1.2 cm would mean it is the thinnest ThinkPad laptop yet and pretty compact, too. Verizon puts the weight at 2.91 lbs or 1.3 kg, around the same as the aforementioned X1 Yoga.
- For the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano, Verizon confirms the screen size of 13 inch. The screen seems to have a resolution of 2,160 x 1,350, which is powered by a 48 Wh battery. With 29 x 21 x 1.5 cm, it would be very compact, but thicker than the X1 Titanium. With just 2.1 lbs or 0.95 kg, the X1 Nano would be lighter than the current lightest ThinkPad, the X1 Carbon.
When exactly Lenovo will announce these three new ThinkPads, we do not know. However, since we already know the ThinkPad X1 Nano features Intel Tiger Lake, we expect them within the next two months.
