Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15IIL05 Review: Good performance and a long battery life - thanks to the 70-Wh battery

Lenovo's 15.6-inch laptop is equipped with an Ice Lake Core i5 processor, 8 GB of RAM (dual channel mode) and a GeForce-MX350 GPU. Despite this powerful hardware, the IdeaPad's battery life is very satisfactory.

Lenovo has created a real all-rounder: the 15.6-inch IdeaPad 5 15IIL05. The test unit we were provided with is equipped with a Core i5-1035G1 and a GeForce MX350The IdeaPad 5's CPU/GPU combination can display almost all games in our database smoothly - at low resolution and low to average quality settings. Some games with moderate demands on the hardware can be played at higher settings.

This is not really surprising. After all, the GeForce MX350 is based on the same chip as Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1050 - it just has an interface of 64 bit rather than 128 bit. The MX350 does a lot better than its predecessor, the GeForce MX250, but cannot keep up with the GTX 1050 GPU.

The notebook has 8 GB of RAM. This cannot be expanded as it is firmly soldered on and there are no free memory banks. We would recommend purchasing the IdeaPad model with 16 GB of RAM to ensure that it will continue to fulfill your needs in the future.

The powerful hardware in the IdeaPad 5 does not prevent it from having a long battery life. Lenovo has equipped our test unit with a 70-Wh battery, which means it should have no problem getting through an entire working day on battery. You can recharge the device using the included AC adapter or with a USB power supply thanks to the Type C USB port (USB 3.2 Gen 2, Power Delivery, DisplayPort via USB-C).

The IPS Full-HD display has stable viewing angles, a matte surface and decent colors. Its brightness and contrast are within the ideal range. Only color space coverage is too low.

Find out more about the device and its benchmark results in our review of the Lenovo Ideapad 5 15IIL05 (81YK003GGE).
